Jerusalem is the famous town in Israel. Bayt-Al-Maqdis is the alternate name for Jerusalem. This town is one of the religiously  most important and historical towns because it is sacred to all the main stream religions of the world. According to latest statistics, Jerusalem is home to more than 801,000 people and is located in the Judean Mountains.

In contradiction to the claim by the Israeli government, because of consistent insurgency in the city between Jews and Muslims, the international community does not recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Hence, it does not hold any foreign embassies. Still, all the important Israeli government offices are located in Jerusalem including the Knesset the Parliament. It also holds the Hebrew university and the Israel Museum with their Shrine of the books. The Jerusalem Biblical Zoo located in this town ranks at the top attractions for tourists.

The history if this town goes back to ancient times, but it is famous for being the founding stone of Major Abrahamic religions of the world. Abraham was the founding father of the Judaism, the religion of Jews and God had sent him to Israel. On Mount Moriah in Jerusalem Abraham sacrificed his son, Isaac. Babylonians exiled the Jews from the land when they took over. When the Christians came in they too forbade Jews on living there. But when the Muslims invaded the land they allowed the Jews to return and live peacefully. Afterwards, Christians returned and ruled again. Later, Turks ruled for 400 years till World War I after which it was distributed by the Allies and part of it was handed over to Palestine.
