What is the old name of Faisalabad?
Lyallpur was the old name of Faisalabad. Sir James Broadwood Lyall was the person who founded this city and for this reason this city was first named as Lyallpur. He was a British administrator who served the civil services in Punjab during the British Raj. After his death, James Broadwood was buried in this city and his tomb can be visited in the popular Jinnah garden. Faisalabad is an industrial city of Pakistan which is popular for its textile industry. Another name is also attributed to Faisalabad that is “Manchester of Pakistan” or Manchester of Asia.
