1. Rene-Levasseur Island:
The Rene-Levasseur Island is situated in the center of Lake Manicouagan in Quebec, Canada. The total area of Rene-Levasseur Island is 2020 km. It is the second largest Island in the world following Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron. It has larger area than the lake in which it is located. The history of its formation is that it was created by the impact of a meteorite that meet the earth about 214 million years ago. It attacked the earth at a speed of about 17km/s, the fourth most powerful impact that the earth has faced in its history. The impact of this meteorite formed a cavity that spreads over 100 km diameter and center of this dip is now known as Rene-Levasseur Island.

2. Odaiba Artificial Island:
Odaiba artificial Island that is located in Tokyo bay. It is a pretty large Island and was developed in 1853. It was basically constructed for the prevention of water attack from sea and was one of the 6 fortresses build by Egawa Hidetatsu. It is also recognized as Daiba. It was reconstructed in 1928 to make it a public place for recreation and now, it catches lot of tourists from all around the world.
It was planned to be a residential and commercial area and Tokyo governor Shun’ichi Suzuki initiated the major plans for such purpose in the earlier ages of 1990’s. But his successor Yukia Aoshima fitful the plans in 1995 even when over 1 billion yen were already been spend over this project by that time. Lots of companies that were especially set up for this purpose, were became bankrupted. The major “economy bubble” in 1991 in Japan was the factor for such a big loss. Also this Island was considered unsuitable for the business purposes due to its far locality from the densely populated areas. Until 1995, Odaiba was just a wasteland and full of vacant lots.
But again, in 1996, the Odaiba artificial Island was allowed for investments and lot of hotel resorts and shopping plazas were built, which made this barren place alive again. You can find the offices of multinational companies in this area like the headquarters of Fuji TV. The facilities of transportations were also provided with the passage of time as the things were getting improved day by day.

3. Denmark Artificial Island:
The Peberholm artificial Island is located at the Danish part of Oresund. It was originally built for creating a connection between Denmark and Sweden through Oresund Bridge. Peberholm Island was constructed near the Salt Holm (Salt Islet) which is a natural Island. No one can visit this Island except biologists who are also restricted with only one tour in a year. It was actually built for biological experiments as the scientists hoped that this Island would flourish on its own colonized by the nature. And in 2007, the scientists have discovered some species from this Island and registered them as official records. It was consisted of 20 species of spiders and 12 of birds. Some rare remnants of plants were also discovered in Peberholm artificial Island.

4. The Donauinsel (Danube Island):
The Donauinsel (Danube Island) is located in the central parts of Vienna, Austria. It is a long but narrow Island having 70 to 210 meters width and 21.1 Km length. It is situated between the Danube River and a paralleled channel of Neue Donau “New Danube” waterway. It has many things for recreation like lots of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. You can also enjoy plenty of sports activities like swimming, cycling, rollerblading and canoeing in Donauinsel artificial Island. You can find nude beaches in the northern and southern parts of this Island. It is also given a nick name of “Copa Cagrana”. It hosts the biggest festival of Europe, the Donauinsefest and approximately more than 3 million people from all over the world gather at the end of June each year to attend this. Madonna also gave her first performance in Vienna in front of 57000 people at this place.
It is also considered as the main part of sophisticated flood protection system of Vienna because the mighty river Danube crosses the city. It really proved the purpose of its construction while saving Vienna in 2002 from the deadly flood which devastated the other Austrian cities.

5. Read’s Island:
The Read’s Island that is located outside the Ancholme sluice is sometimes known as artificial Islands. This was originally planned as the strategically construction along the River Humber which acts as a drainage system for the Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, England. For the attribute of tidal, it was just a simple project and required few years for its construction.
Nowadays, the Island is facing a decline as the continual changes in the River Humber. It should be given consideration and according to some suggestions, the main shipping channel that leads to the likes of Goole, should be fall down between the Island and Humber’s Lincolnshire shore before its too late.
