Why the polarizibilities of elements mostly increase down the group ?

The polarizabilites of the elements increase down the group. The reason is that number of shell increases and shielding effect also increases. Both these factors decrease the force of attraction between the nucleus and the outermost electron. This increase the polarizabilities.
