PTI news agency was established right on the independence day of India, 15th August, 1947. Currently, it is the largest news agency in India. Head office is located in Delhi and it has almost 150 offices throughout the country. Outside India, PTI has liaison offices in Bangkok, Beijing, Colombo, Dubai, New York, Islamabad, Kuala Lumpur, Washington D.C and Moscow. PTI also has collaboration with more than 100 news agencies outside India.

Since independence, PTI has been sharing latest information with its subscribers. At the outset, the company was broadcasting its services only in India but eventually they started operating around the globe. Later on, with the strengthening of its infrastructure, PTI took over the responsibility of broadcasting from AP and Reuters in India. More than 450 newspapers are subscribed with PTI, major subscribers being the Times of India, Doordarshan, Indian express and Hindustan Times. PTI makes use of its own communication satellite for broadcasting its services in South Africa.

Being a non-profit organization all the revenues of PTI are re-invested in the business. This is the reason for rapid growth in PTI. It is providing its services in English and Hindi. Almost 2000 writers are currently working for PTI.
