Which is the parliament of Qatar ?
The Parliament of Qatar is known as Majlis Al-Shura which is unicameral. It is also known as Advisory Council. The members of Majlis Al-Shura are elected after every three years. There are 45 members of the parliament out of which 30 are elected by the common people through proper elections, on the other hand 15 are appointed by the Chief of State, also known as Amir. Right now the Head of the State is Amir Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The role of the members of Majlis Al-Shura is to make laws for the country. They do not have any political affiliations as there is no political party in the country. Like the name the function of advisory Council is to advise other institutions like ministry of municipal affairs, transportation or public services to help them work properly. The Mujlis Al-Shura is not responsible for the accountability of the Head of State.
There is monarchy in Qatar, that is why the Head of the State is the then crowned Prince. He is the one who appoints the Prime Minister, and at the same time he is also the defense minister and chief of armed forces.
