PANA news agency, also known as PANAPRESS, is an African official news agency. In Addis Ababa, PANA was established on 20th July, 1979 by the Organization of African Unity. The basic motive of this news agency was to enhance the communication within the African continent.

Initially this agency was facing many financial issues specially to cope up with the severe technical problems. Currently they are using internet, intranet and extranet networks to keep an uninterrupted flow of information in Africa. Upgrading the technology lead them to attract more than 5 million subscribers, who can have access to their production every month. They are having 50 Correspondents throughout Africa to communicate accurate and rapid information. Their professional management takes up the challenges to ensure the high quality coverage of news in the whole continent.  Online services, like websites, serve as a complete information provider for Africa. Their information is also used by the policy makers working in Africa. Their basic concerns are economy, health, technology, sports, politics, environment, agriculture etc. It provides current and authentic information to the concerned sectors.
