Shah Faisal Mosque, Islamabad is the largest mosque in Pakistan. The total area of this mosque or masjid is 54,000 sq. meter and it can accommodate about 300000 people. It is also the largest mosque of Asia as well as sixth largest mosque in the world. It was intiated by King Faisal of Saudi Arabia who supported this mosque during his official visit to Pakistan in 1966.  Its design was architected by a Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay.  It is one of the most outstanding and modern Islamic architecture examples in the world.
