Currency of Romania
The official currency of Romania is Leu. Its plural is Lei and its code in the Forex index is RON. Leu is further divided into 100 parts that are specifically given the name Bani. Romanian earlier currency was ROL Lue, which was different from the currency available nowadays, and then the government decided to form an independent currency so changed previous one into RON Leu, which means lion. According to statistics I RON is equal to 10,000 ROL. National bank of Romania is the main source of the official currency.
1, 5, 10 and 50 bani coins are readily available in Romania whereas in case of currency notes 1, 5, 10, 50 and 100 lei banknotes are prepared by the bank. Surprisingly this is expected that from 1 January 2015 Euro will be replacing Lue and will become the official currency of Romania. Romania has a lower economic market in early nineties but with the passage of time it increased so rapidly that it was given the name Tiger. It is mainly interested in foreign investment and other IT occupations. In east of Europe Romania is the largest financial centre.
