The capital of South Korea is Seoul. It is also often called ‘soul of Asia’ because of its largeness and beauty. Seoul is a 600 years old city. It is well developed and modern city with the population of 11 million. Seoul is known for its modern buildings and shopping centers, more than 25,000 shopping centers remain open for 24 hours. Though, Seoul is known for its development but it also holds some historical building, the most popular is the Changdeokgung palace which is over 600 years old. Before the World War II Korea was ruled by Japan for 35 years, after the world war ll when Japan surrendered to Allied forces, US took over the control of South Korea and on 15th August 1948 Republic of Korea was established.
Seoul is also home for a lot of international events. It has hosted more than 150 international conferences in the year 2009 and 2010. Art centers in Seoul are rated as one of the centers for Art in the world. There are 118 Art centers in Seoul with 31250 performances a year. Seoul is clearly the economic driving force behind the South Korea who has clearly developed more than any other country in past 50 years.
