Capital Of Romania
The capital of Romania is Bucharest; it is the cultural, economical, political, and educational center of the country. Located in the Southeast, on the banks of Dambovita River, it is the largest city of Romania, hosting a population of almost 2.2 million people; this also makes it the 6th largest city in the European Union. Ever since it became the capital of Romania in 1862, Bucharest has made its way to the center of the country’s mass media, culture and arts. The city is administratively called the Municipality of Bucharest, has the level of a county, and is further divided into six sectors.
The elegance of its architecture and the sophistication of its elite earned it the title of “Little Paris of the East”, between the periods of the two World Wars; despite the destruction of numerous buildings, owing to earthquakes, damage by war, and program of systemization, many still stand strong in Bucharest. Economically, it is the most successful city in Romania, being one of the main industrial centers. The city has a windy, continental-type climate, a diverse and growing cultural scene, with a French influence. It is the most important center of Romanian media and has recently experienced a cultural and economic boom.
