In 1905, Partition of Bengal was announced by the British Raj for the administrative betterment of the country. Bengal was divided into two parts, one was dominated by the Muslims and the other was dominated by the Hindus. These two communities were in majority in each part. The Hindus started agitation against the partition of Bengal. The major reasons of this agitation were following.

  • The Hindus thought that the Muslims will get the benefit of this partition and they may become a strong community in their part of Bengal.
  • Muslims started to do business openly and they came out of the clutches of Hindu landlords so this was not acceptable to the Hindus.
