Why Muslim observed ‘Deliverance Day’?
Muslim observed ‘Deliverance Day‘ as End of Congress Ministries. Jinnah declared the day of resignation of congress ministries as the “Day of Deliverance” on December 22, 1939 for Indian Muslims. Congress came into power in 1937 in eight provinces of the Sub-continent. Nawab Wiqar ul Mulk once said,
If Hindus ever came to power they would wreck vengeance upon the them in return for Aurangzaib’s rule.
So, after assuming the power they started to impose the anti-Muslim policies. The Hindu led government announced the tri-color flag as the national flag to be hoisted on all the government buildings. The singing of Bande-Mataram was also made compulsory in educational institutions as well as in government offices. Secondly, the Hindus launched Wardha Educational Scheme whose basic purpose was to change the minds of the Muslim children. They wanted to pass on their One Nation ideology to the Muslim children who were taught the Two Nation Theory. Thirdly, Hindi language was forcefully made official language of the Sub-continent. The old Hindi-Urdu rivalry got a new momentum because of Hindus’ intention to eradicate the Urdu from Hindustan.
As the result of these atrocities together with other anti-Muslim steps, the leader of the Muslims in Sub-continent announced to celebrate this day as the Day of Deliverance. At this moment Quaid e Azam said,
The Hindus claim that Indian National Congress represents the Hindus and Muslims communities, has been proven false.
